【Titile】: Inside Job: Evidence from the Chinese Housing Market

【Abstract】: Using a comprehensive dataset of housing transactions, we find that government officials are more likely than non-officials to buy housing units before government-imposed housing purchase restriction policy. We also find that the effect is more pronounced for officials closer to the decision-making process and officials with higher ranks. Furthermore, we find that officials use their power to speed up the loan application process to complete the transactions before the policy. Overall, the results suggest that officials trade on the private information they gained during the policy-making process.

【报告人简介】: 赵大旋，2013年获新加坡国立大学房地产系博士学位，2015年起在中国人民大学商学院财务与金融系担任助理教授。主要研究兴趣为房地产，家庭金融，城市经济学和公共政策分析。研究成果发表于American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Regional Science and Urban Economics, Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics等国际期刊。
